Frequently Asked Questions
What certification do I need?
In Massachusetts, you are required to have at least one person (Person-In-Charge or PIC) who is Food Protection Manager certified present in your establishment at all times of operation. We highly recommend that multiple people in your establishment get this certification to account for different shifts and absences.

What happens if I fail the exam?
If it is your first attempt taking the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Exam, you may retake the exam at any time. If you do not pass after the second attempt, you must wait 60 days before taking the exam again.
My local health department is requiring that I get a third party consultant to help us get back on the right track. Can you help with that?
Absolutely! We know the FDA Food Code (specifically the code that Massachusetts has adopted) inside and out and can help you navigate the rules and figure out how best to implement them in your establishment.
Do you offer Allergen Awareness certification?
Unfortunately, we cannot offer MA Allergen Awareness certification but the good news is that you can easily find it here: https://www.servsafe.com/access/SS/Catalog/ProductDetail/ALLERGENMA
